FAIRYTALE was the creative child of Genevieve Nollinger—a fellow artist, curator, and friend. Within the span of two weeks in June 2019, Genevieve brought together nine artists and set them loose in Ghost Gallery LA. On the night of June 21, the show featured five immersive rooms and live performances in the gallery basement. The show itself was comprised of a mix of paintings, sculptures, installations, video and VR works, and performance art.
As one of the participating artists in the show, I used my space to create a fantasy bathroom and mirror; a microcosm within FAIRYTALE. Bathrooms are precious for how much of our lives we spend in them. There's something deeply comforting and escapist in nature about beautifying such a space. It is where you might keep a bar of your favorite soap
a matchbook from Santa Fe
a book of poems
sea glass collected at the beach.
A little painting hangs from wire on the wall.
A pothos clipping peeks over the windowsill…
